Employer FAQ

What is a Co-op/Internship?

A co-op or internship (terms used interchangeably at Cal Poly) involves short-term employment for underclass students – usually sophomores and juniors – for the purpose of increasing the student's real-world preparation for full-time employment. It also gives the employer a chance to learn more about a particular student as a future employee, while giving the company a little temporary help. Most internships last 3 months, though shorter and longer timeframes are possible. While some internships are unpaid, most involve a wage of $10-12 per hour so that the student can afford to complete the co-op while covering basic living expenses. What About Parking?

Parking may be a challenge at Cal Poly. Although your Career Day fee will include a parking permit, please allow time for obtaining the permit from the kiosk (instructions  and tips will be sent approximately a week prior to the event). You may park in any "sponsored guest” or regular staff spot. Please do not park at meters or in other spots as tickets are given and we have no power to have those reversed. Additional information can be accessed from: https://afd.calpoly.edu/parking/
