Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department is one of the largest programs of its kind in the nation. We have very high placement of students pursuing positions and recruitment is by some of the largest and most prestigious companies in the industry.
Our faculty is internationally known professors, scholars, researchers, and specialists. And we have an advisory board composed of industry executive leaders from top graphic communication organizations. As a Cal Poly Graphic Communication student you will get to meet and interact with these professionals from the time you become a freshmen through your senior year.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in five student clubs and organizations. This is an excellent opportunity to socialize, make lifelong friends, travel with peers as well as learn and provide service to the Graphic Communication Department.
Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department is also the home of the Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly where we do research, testing, product evaluations, training, conduct seminars, workshops, and conferences, and we even do publishing. Students often get to participate in many of these activities.
And, our Graphic Communication Department is one of the few departments of its kind having national accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Collegiate Graphic Communications.
We are supported by industry with nearly 30 endowments, million of dollars in laboratory equipment, and hundreds of thousand dollars in supplies
As a Cal Poly Graphic Communication student you will also have opportunities to participate international activities through study abroad programs and “extended fieldtrips” to other nations.
You will study in over 33,000 square feet of laboratories including covering printing, publishing, packaging, design technology, website development, Internet publishing, digital imaging, and more.
