12x18 golding jobber (1904)

golding jobber

From its first appearance in 1885 up to the early 90's the Golding Jobber, which was manufactured by the Golding Manufacturing Co., became quite popular. This popularity was mainly due to its difference in design. First of all, impression was achieved by the means of a lever motion, the fulcrum was just below the platen and between it and the source of power. This press, like many other platen presses of its day, used the clamshell movement but was equipped with a special means of adjusting the impression. Speed was gained by reducing the weight of the moving parts and balancing the weight of the platen by the method of hanging it. This press was powered by a gasoline engine.
