Malcom enjoys teaching abroad, he was a visiting professor at Munich University and Shanghai Printing and Publishing College of USST.

Malcom has always loved learning – being involved and around learners is exciting for him. He believes that Cal Poly offers a unique combination of excellent students, strong faculty and a dynamic environment for learning. He enjoys seeing the success of our students in various settings. He particularly likes working in small groups like the Phoenix Challenge group, where he got the chance to teach and mentor over an extended period of time. Since he has been teaching for a long time now, he likes to see students from long ago gaining remarkable success. He likes to know that he played some minor role in their success… as they have in his.

 Specialty and Passion

Over the years, Malcom has shifted his passion, as new technologies and methodologies are developed. Most recently, he is very interested in how data is used and managed in GrC, which includes digital marketing, managing assets, analytics, and various other applications. He has also been very involved in the Flexo packaging area and particularly interested in marking and coding, specifically for tacking, brand-security and anti-counterfeiting.

Highlight of Career

He has really appreciated serving as President of the Graphic Communication Education Association, as well as receiving the PGSF Educator of the Year award. He has several writings featured: https://works.bepress.com/mkeif/

Fun fact, Malcom has flown in small planes, large planes, helicopters, hot air balloons and even the Goodyear Blimp...but is terrified of heights.
