Graphic Communication Hosts Hackathon

On January 12 and 13, 2018, the annual hackathon hosted by Camp PolyHacks was held at the SLO HotHouse.

Organized by Graphic Communication Professor Charmaine Farber, the hackathon was a 12-hour design sprint where students and community members worked together to create a program to solve local issues. Camp PolyHacks’ mission is to provide a platform for designers, developers, and entrepreneurs to solve civic-based issues alongside community members.

As GrC student Alan Nguyen summarizes, “It was an amazing experience I won’t forget because I was able to work with a team to develop something that could have been tangible enough to fix a real life issue.” The success of this event is owed to the many sponsors such as Amazon, Mindbody, Workday, and General Electric.
